Organic

The word organic means of the earth, in its most natural form, unadulterated. In modern times, this word has come to identify crops which are not tainted by chemicals and whose growth is not impacted by artificial influences.

Some people prefer organic food because they believe it is healthier.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) certifies foods as organic if they meet the definition below.

Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation.”
